Listening: Deftones Around the Fur
Reading: L.J. Smith The Power

By art_is_freedom It's technically Friday as it's 3.17am, but I haven't been to bed yet so screw that :oP So, I'm going crazy. Between the internet and my mother, I may just be reaching the end of my tether... I cannot walk into the same room as my mother without her sitting me down for another 'job talk,' or handing me a newspaper or magazine she thought I might find jobs in. I can't take it anymore *wail* It's only two weeks since I handed my disseration in, and I spent one of those week in drunken oblivion. I will get a job. I have to, therefore I will. I'm not exactly sure what my mum thinks I'm going to do, but she sure is worried about the whole job situation *sigh*

On the internet front - well, some of you will have noticed that I still haven't answered my e-mails. I've been trying to convert my fanlistings to PhPFanbase, but, frankly, it's taking ages and I'm running out of patience. I spent the past two days constructing three fanlisting that TFL.org took ages to approve and then actually approved right at the end of September, which was bad timing. They look quite pretty though, if I do say so myself *g*

Listening: Razorlight Up All Night
Reading: L.J. Smith The Chase

By selderaya I feel a bit blah at the moment. Just, you know, generally. No specific reason. I've just been thinking about my whole lack of a job and ambition. Also, the stuff with David has made me realise that I'd quite like some kind of boyfriend-type-thing. Not so much of an actual boyfriend, I think, but someone who's there. Someone you can spend a whole day just lying in bed, talking about nothing, or not talking at all. That sounds quite boyfriend-like, so perhaps I do want me one of those... I think I just miss being close with someone, you know?

Anywho, I've come home for a few days because I have absolutely no money. I literally didn't have enough for the bus (a measly 10 Euro) and had to borrow it off a friend, who doesn't have very much money herself *sigh* Luckily for me, when I arrived, there was a nice cheque for 600 Euro waiting for me. It's payment for those websites I did for the Botany department. That'll pay this and next months rent, which is a big relief. My Mum also presented me with a lovely jumper and long cardigan that she'd bought for me. I love my Mummy. Further bonus - my brother's computer is still in my room, so I get to go on the internet whenever I please. If anyone wants to talk to me, you can get me on AIM as 'Lorraine Sligo'. Lovely brother is also getting a friend of his to make me a copy of The Sims 2. Despite all this goodness, I'm still feeling a bit blah... Does anyone else think this song would make a great Ash/Mary-Lynnette fic?

FAKE by THE FRAMES
You're telling me I should forget you
You're talking like I never knew you
But that's a lie
You're playing out your game again
Why are you never on my side?
You're telling me I should forget you

Come on the guy's a fake
What do you love him for?
And it was my mistake
Just kicking in his door
And if it's just a game
Then what are we crying for?

You're telling me I will regret you
You're talking like I should expect to
You'll never know
And he's left you in the rain again
And you were always on my mind
You're telling me I should forget you

Come on the guy's a fake
What do you love him for?
And it was my mistake
Just kicking in his door
And if it's just a game
Then what are we crying for?

You're telling me I should forget you

Listening: The Frames Burn the Map
Reading: Robert Jordan The Great Hunt

By gabbysun Mwhahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahaha and all that jazz =D Oh yes, I am alive, and for the first time in my life I am both not a student and unemployed. What a combination! I can't believe it's been almost a month since I last blogged. That's shocking. Time does fly when you're going quickly insane...

So, you know how I was pretty far into denial over my dissertation? Well I decided that perhaps I should do some work from home to stop me from surfing the internet constantly. To be fair, the plan worked to some extent but failed to take into account the television. For the week and a half before my deadline, I became addicted to Joe Millionaire: Europe, Friends and Dr. Phil =) Ah, the goodness. I did manage to get my first two chapters (around 9,000 words) done and dusted, and some preliminary stuff for the rest. The disseration was due on a Thursday. On the Monday my supervisor let me know that she would only read the 'important' parts of my work. Erm, it's all important, surely? So in I trot on Tuesday, armed with the first two chapters having decided that they would be the most important as they open the whole thing and set the tone etc. I go into her office and she makes it perfectly clear that she has absolutely no intention of reading anything I give her whatsoever. Fabulous. A minor panic attack later and I accosted the head of the course and demanded to know what was going on. The poor man was a bit confused when I literally dragged him away from a conversation he was having with someone else *g* So he goes to talk to my supervisor who tells him that the head of the department told her that she didn't have to read her students work at this point if she didn't want to - what the fuck?? So Stefan (head of the course) goes and yells at the head of the department who gets into a towering rage and yells at someone else. Meanwhile, my supervisor, having been yelled at, is in a shitty mood too but decides that she will read my chapters. The worst part of this entire mess? My supervisor right out lied about me to Stefan. She told him that she'd spent the entire summer trying to get in touch with me. She sent me two e-mails... Thankfully, Stefan believed me over her, but I would have been screwed if he hadn't. He also offered to read the two chapters himself. Having offended half of the deparment I decided it was time to go home. My supervisor rang about three hours later with some corrections, which absolutely shocked me. Whatever Stefan said to her obviously worked. Stefan also rang a couple of hours later and was incredibly helpful. I honestly don't think that I would have finished if it wasn't for him. He completely threw the chapter plan my supervisor had given me out the window and sorted things out into an order that actually made sense. Love you Stefan! *L*

So, Wednesday I try to write some more but once again get distracted by the thrills of Joe Millionaire and Dr. Phil. Around 10pm I start to get a little bit hysterical, much to the amusement of my housemates. In typical Lorraine style, I didn't really start writing the rest of the disseration until about 1.30am. Two girls in my class, Siobhan and Maggie, were printing their dissertations out on my printer, so for the whole night they were coming and going, printing frantically as I typed frantically. Two cans of red bull and a case of the giggles later, it's 8am, Siobhan's finished printing, Maggie's started printing but hasn't finished writing and I'm almost done. 10am on Thursday morning, I finish writing. Bearing in mind that the dealine is 4pm and it had to be bound and everything, that's not so good >_< It literally took 3 hours for everything to print and then Maggie freaked out because hers wasn't finished, so I had to help her. We finally finished at 2pm and legged it down to the binders, who bless them, understood and had everything ready for 3.30. About 5 minutes before the deadline we threw ourselves into the submissions room and thence to the student union bar. You knew the story would end in a pub, didn't you? ^_^

Most of the class hadn't been to sleep the night before, and some had been awake the night before that too, so we all got pissed in about an hour which was fantastic =D Lots of drunkeness ensued and I spent a lot of time trying to ignore conversations about dissertations and printing problems. About 8 or 9pm we headed into town and did a bit of a pub crawl. At this point Eoghan (who I've talked about before) decided to start touching me up, which I was just not drunk enough for. So avoiding him, I went to talk to Eileen and David (aka the housemates aka Eileen and the Idiot) and surprise, surprise, David managed to insult me again. Fed up of the bad touching and the unhelpful housemates, I tottered off to a friends house, drank some more, wandered home and fell asleep to the soothing sounds of Metallica *g*

Friday, Emma and I decided to have a bit of a houseparty and invited some people over. I honestly haven't been that drunk in a loooooooong time. I was drinking cocktails and beer (not a good combination) and I was absolutely shit-faced. In a good way through ;) Yes, so, then I ended up sleeping with Nigel, another one of the guys in my class (that makes three for anyone keeping count) *innocent look* Damn, the sex was good. So I refuse to feel bad about the randomness of the night...

I spent Saturday in such a state of hungoverness it scares me still *L* I couldn't eat, I couldn't drink, I couldn't even move without feeling like shit. David was in a similar state since Emma and I had woken him up at 2am and made him drink with us. Since he's quite ill at the moment, this was an amusing punishment *eg* About 9pm that night some people in my class came around to the house and frog-marched me down to the pub. To be fair, I only protested for about 10 minutes *L* Sitting on a barstool wasn't the best. I kept swaying dangerously and thinking I was going to hit the floor at any moment. In the 3 or 4 hours that I was out I drank a pint and a half. I just couldn't drink! Very distressing! Yet another astonishing surprise, David insulted me again, but this time in front of half of my class. Oh, hurrah, for the boy is a fool. This time it was something about my sarcasm and how he really didn't like it. Bit of a shock that, since he always laughs when I'm sarcastic. He was just backing up something a girl in my class (Aideen) had said, but that's not the point and she's a bitch anyway. Hmph.

Sunday saw me toddling towards the pub at 2pm for some good old fashioned drinking, because I really hadn't been doing enough of that, as I'm sure you can tell. I met up with Conor and we got fairly tipsy before we moved on to another pub, where we met David (he spent a lot of time drinking with me, for someone who doesn't like me that much... I suppose the same can be applied in reverse!). Had a few more drinks, watched a football game, moved to another pub. Had a few more drinks, got bored out of my skull as Conor and David talked about the ways in which they planned to take over the world (why do all men have that conversation). Was joined by some other friends and stumbled home around midnight. Sadly, I didn't get to stay in my bned for quite as long as I might have hoped. I woke up around 5am to be sick. Strangely, David woke up at the same time for the same purpose. We reckon we must have had some dodgy pints along the way...

Monday was a day of sleeping. As was Tuesday, and also Wednesday *L* I sorted out my room on Thursday as there were notes and discarded print-outs and clothes all over the freaking place. Friday was a day of intense TV-viewing and Saturday a day of shopping, and a night of being kept awake from 2am till 8am by David and his stupid loud friends. That brings us right up to today. A day of the internet. =D Woohoo! Sadly, the computer room closes at 5pm, so I only have about 10 more minutes before I have to pack up and leave. And I still haven't answered any e-mails or anything like that *sigh* Sorry. I'll do it tomorrow!

I really hope that made sense. I realise there's a lot of rambling and changing tenses and whatnot. Still, it's all groovy ;) Thank you to all of my lovely commenters on the last post. Most of you made me laugh out loud with what you said *L* I really appreaciate it! I have absolutely no idea what to make of David anymore. As you can tell from this entry, he's not exactly very friendly towards me. Yet, at the same time, we have a great time together and do actually get on. So we get on, but he doesn't actually seem to like me and pisses me off, but we go drinking together and have a great time. It's a puzzler. On the one hand - nice guy - on the other - complete idiot who couldn't fit more of his foot into his mouth *shrug* To say that I'm confused would be a bit of an understatement!

Finally, hey Kate!! Thanks for the comment. I haven't had time to check out your site yet, but I'm definitely going to seeing as how we seem to be strange twins or something *L* =D
