I've pretty much calmed down now, but I'm still pissed about today. My bosses are husband and wife and towards the end of the shift the wife tells me that they overpaid me and I'd have to give them back some money. Fine, I say, but how did they overpay me? Oh, we forgot to take out your breaks. Excuse me? I suspected they were doing this (one reason why I gave them my week's notice on Sunday), but to have it put to me so blatantly... Obviously, I pointed out that I'm entitled to a half an hour's paid break by law. No, you're not. You're especially not allowed to leave the premises. What the fuck ever. Since I was leaving I just shrugged and said I'd give the money back when she told me how much she wanted. Fine. Five minutes later, the husband comes out and had a right go at me, going on and on about how he hates it when people piss him around. I tried to stay reasonable and pointed out that I'd already said that I'd give the money back. He goes away and comes back about two minutes later and launched in to the whole thing again. I'm really very pissed off (and quite upset) and this point so I said that it was one thing not to pay me for my breaks, even though it was illegal, but it wasn't very fair when you considered that I have to work for 10-20 minutes after 10pm for free every night. Well, that set him right off. Somehow, I was in the wrong for saying it was unfair to do work that I don't get paid for. So he's furious and I'm really upset, but trying not to cause a scene (this being in the middle of the shop and all). I say that I understand it's the way that they run things and that it's one of the reasons I decided to leave so it's pointless to make an issue out of it. Not good enough. When Darren, the guy I was working with, tried to stand up for me a bit, you could practically see the veins popping the husband's head. Eventually he gave up, but he kept referring to it for the rest of the night which pissed me off beyond belief. It is illegal to not pay people for their half an hour break. It is illegal to stop paying people after a certain time but insist that they stay and work anyway. It is illegal to pay people my age, with my experience below minumum wage (€7.80 - I get €7.30, although I suppose it's technically higher since they take out my breaks). It is not ridiculous of me to point these things out. I swear to god, if he says anything to my mother about this, which I suspect he will, I am walking. I'm not going to work the rest of the days I promised to do, and I'm not going to give a fuck. And if he brings it up continuously, I'm walking. He's such a fucking prick.
Anyway, I managed to calm myself down by spending hours working on some icons. I probably should have done something more productive, but I couldn't be arsed. They're over at Artistic Endeavours, my LJ, if you're interested in seeing the products of my rage ;)

Today is a good day! I was supposed to work from 3 until 10, but one of the guys I work with (Ian from Australia - not his actual name!) asked to swap with me, meaning I got to go home at 7. Yay! It does mean I have to go in at 3 tomorrow instead of 7, but I'm pretty happy. I wanted today to be an internet day, and now it is *throws confetti* So here I am, sitting in front of my computer, listening to The Killers and feeling pretty damned happy *L*
Yesterday was the first night of Big Brother 6 and oh my god, what a bunch of freaks! The first person in the house was this 40-year-old black, gay, Torie who's a political speech writer 0.o I can just tell he's going to be great! Every single person after him seemed to have the intelligence of a shrivelled grapefruit, so he'll probably go mad. One of the women, Mary, reckons that in a previous life she was from Atlantis and was a mermaid (I'm not sure if she was both at the same time...) and she's a white witch. Erm, whatever! She walked in with this cloak and broom ensemble that was just a bad idea. She does seem to be one of only two women who don't seem like complete and utter whores, so that's something. I think I'm going to get pissed off with the people in the house a lot this year, but on a bright note it means that Dermot's back on TV! Huzzah! *loves Dermot in a fully platonic way* Go join his fanlisting!!!
*pokes the comments* Why are they not showing that people have posted?? How very odd.
Rissa - Well it's all Kim's fault that I'm a JP/Bobby shipper. I think you should blame her! It does kinda suck when you get into new characters and start buying loads of random comics. It's good, but it leaves you poor. I empathise *sigh* ;) You've been to the places is the Anne books?? *gasps* *faints* That is so amazing! I want to go to PEI!!!! I'm very jealous right now. And yes, the Eurovision is kind of like American Idol, but it's much tackier and the panel of judges is the population of Europe - mwahahahahahahaha *L*
Ooooooh, does that mean you've done the meme too Li? I must go check out your answers!

*does her I-have-a-new-computer dance* Yippee! The computer actually arrived at lunchtime on Tuesday. There I was, eating before I had to go to work when a delivery van pulled up exciting me greatly ^.^ I've been working till 10 every night since, so I haven't managed to spend much time with it yet. So far I have all my main programmes loaded, but I have quite a bit more to do. I want to put loads of music on and I really need to beat XP in to doing what I want it to do, rather than it doing what it thinks I want to do. But it's all good! The screen is actually kinda odd. Supposedly it's 1024 x 768, but there's quite a bit of empty black space around the edges. It looks like it might be widescreen... I should watch a movie and see if it is or not. Now all I need is broadband *glares in the direction of Eircom*.
Thank you for liking Speedsicle, Rissa! And well done on posting your address for once :oP Yes, more fics are being written. It was just a bit awkward without my computer, since I do almost all my writing on the computer. I've almost forgotten how to write something with a pen *g* By the way, I am also a non-UKer *pointed look* Bad girl! How could you call me a UKer? The Eurovision is... erm... 39 countries send in a singer or band and then the public in all the participating countries vote for their favourite performance. Whoever gets the most votes from everyone wins and then their country hosts the competition the next year. It was originally just for countries from Europe, but it's gotten a bit bigger lately. This year was the 50th year and Ireland have won the most times =D It's very, very tacky, but in a good way! So there you go.
Li, I'll change your address now. It's so hard to keep track of everyone now that people have blogs on their sites and LJs! Isn't Colm Meaney great? He's definitely one of my favourite actors =)
I almost forgot the meme that Heather tagged me to do:
1)Total number of books owned? Around 1500. Quite possibly more because that doesn't include my text books or anything I've lent to people.
2) The last book I bought? The Stargate movie adaptation
3) The last book I read? This is actually quite hard, because I've been randomly reading magazines and comics for a few weeks now *thinks* The last things in my blog don't really count as books, so it's probably Secret Vampire by L.J. Smith.
4) 5 books that mean a lot to me?
- The Anne books by L.M. Montgomery. My Mum introduced me to these books when I was around 9 and I just love them. There's so much in Anne's personality that I wanted to add to mine and I cry everytime I read Gilbert's 'death' scene *sniffle* They're also something that my mother and I share and I will always enjoy them for that reason.
- The Chalet School books by Elinor M. Brent-Dyer. I just love these books. I started reading them when I was around 10, I think. There's a certain simplicity about them and about the way the characters interact with each other. Everyone is honorable and forthright, and if they're not, they're soon converted. There's something lovely about the idea of everyone respecting everyone else and seeing something worthwhile in everyone. Ah, the nostalgia.
- The Night World series by L.J. Smith. Although I love these books, the reason that they mean a lot to me is that they have led to me forming friendships with so many people, both on and off-line, since I first read Secret Vampire in 1997. It's such a wonderful thing to me that these books have introduced me to such a variety of wonderful people *group hug*
- Here Be Dragons by Sharon Penman. This is one the first books that I cried absolutely bucketloads over. I'd cried at books before, but this one affected me so deeply that I was upset for days afterwards! Penman writes such absolutely beautiful and vividly real books and this was the first thing of hers that I read. It also has meaning for me because my history teacher actually lent it to me and it's a mark of the friendship we developed.
- Soundings: Leaving Certificate Poetry. This a the poetry textbook from my last two years at school and, although I've always generally disliked poetry, it holds a surprising amount of meaning. It reminds of me of those years at school and it reminds me of things that I don't do anymore (like studying poetry!). It reminds me of how proud my English teacher always was of me and my accomplishments. Looking through it, and seeing all the notes I've jotted down in there is strange. It almost seems like another world entirely and I'm glad to have the book as a reminder of some of the things I've left behind.
Man, that was hard! There are so many books that I love, but it's hard to pick ones with deep meaning. That's why I cheated slightly and had some series of books rather than individual books =)

Yes, I'm getting slightly obsessed even thought the Eurovision is over. But I want to know why the UK (and three other countries) get automatic entry no matter how badly they do. Only no one wants to tell me. Not Jeeves and not the bloody official site. Anyone out there know?
The reason for the icon. I just logged in to my account at Dell to see if my computer had moved into production yet. And guess what? Not only has it gone into production, it was dispatched from the factory at 2.56 today 0.0 It should be here in two days. And here I was expecting it next Monday! How very exciting. By the way, Heather, almost everyone I know has a Dell computer with XP. My Dad's is incredibly speedy and seems to have no problems with XP at all, and it's a 2400 whereas mine's an 8400. Thanks for warning me though =) Actually, I quite hate XP so I'm a teensy bit annoyed that I'll have to use it now. It just tries far too hard to please, always trying to anticipate what you want to do. That irks me. Irks is a good word *nod* ;)
Achievement linked to the to-do list is as follows... Today was my day off, so once I'd finished playing Resident Evil (because Tara brainwashed me in to it) aka I got stuck and couldn't get any further, I fired up the auld computer. I managed to get the fanlisting for Northstar and Iceman up and running. I have a bunch of content planned, but it took me ages to get the layout right and I just couldn't be arsed once I'd done that. I aim to add some more stuff during the week though. Anyway, it's at Speedsicle so go have a look and tell me what you think (you know the drill by now!). Hand-in-hand with this, I updated Insanity Sandwich, even though it wasn't on my list >.< And now, I'm going to answer some comments - how exciting!
Rissa - Ian McKellan is great in Corrie so far! I've only watched a couple of his episodes, but they're great. He looks like he's having the time of his life. It's probably a big novelty for him playing a character like this. My Mum hates the character though which has lead to some very polite disagreements =D By the way, why do you never put your blog address in the comments? I'm not criticising, just wondering *g* Oh, and play X-Men Legends!! It's brilliant. And they're bringing out a new one - yay!
Li - Thanks for the birthday wishes! Better late than never ;) And, yep, I had a pretty lovely day all in all. I still have two outstanding presents though because my friends are as lazy as I am when it comes to going to post offices =D
Kim & Heather - Thank you for the birthday wishes and the layout compliments! I really like this one myself, especially the colours. It took me ages to find another archaeology-related image that I liked enough and I was kinda worried that people might think it was a bit morbid despite it's obvious beauty. Still, no one seems to have minded!
Kim, how's the computer shopping going? Made any decisions yet? I've decided to try to make myself feel better about the monitor situation by reminding myself that the new one will be black. It's not really much consolation considering it's not flat-screen and I have no clue what I'm going to do with my old one *sigh*
Heather, Steve is a prick. Thank you for agreeing with me and making me feel less embarassed!
Everyone who commented about my poor virus-struck computer - Well, enough said really. I'm disgusted (but excited) that I had to get a new one and when I'm in charge of the world, people who create viruses will be flayed in public and then have computer screens dumped on their heads *glower* Rissa, I can't believe your anti-virus software got a virus!! That's ridiculous! Poor thing *pat*
Gill - We don't really have anything like that computer warehouse thingie, but it looks really great! Ireland isn't really well catered for by the on-line market and the town I live in has one computer shop that's about the size of my bedroom. Stupid town-without-a-proper-computer-shop!
Brina - You're absolutely right, there is something hot about stalkerish lyrics! I suppose being a stalker requires a lot of passion ;)
Taa-daa! Sorry about the super long post.

Ack. I'm so tired *gigantic yawn* I had to be at work at 8am this morning after getting about five hours sleep. Then there was all the working and quite a bit of interneting. I'm desperately trying to mark things off my to-do list as my Dad's gone to France for a few days so I have his computer all to my self *evil laughter* Today, I got badly distracted with trying to figure out what comics I should be ordering and then with saving preview covers and reading random interviews and features and whatnot (I don't care what anyone says, Chris Claremont is no longer a good writer {and oh my god, he's so boring! Has anyone seen the Wolverine TAS DVD? Claremont's on it and he rambles for a good hour in a monotone voice that just makes you feel all sleepy, yet slightly perplexed}, and Joe Quesada lies when he justifies the current size of the X-line). Since I'm mostly boycotting the House of M bollocks (Do I care about Wanda Maximoff? No.), by July I'm down to four Marvel titles a month. That's strange. Good, but very, very strange. Anywho, updatey-wise I put up a new layout at Versatile, my fanlisting for Colm Meaney. I like this one waaaaaaaaaay more than the last one. And I also put up new codes at Golloptuous, and converted the whole thing to proper PHP (since I was using faux-PHP before). I had hoped to get more done, but you can't have everything. I have settled on a new look for Freaks & Geeks though, since I've never been happy with the layout that's up now and it's one of the reasons I never motivate myself to update the thing. Plus, I have a nice pencil drawing of what I want the Northstar/Iceman fanlisting to look like. If I sellotape it to my screen is that the same as actually having put it on-line?
Before I stumble off to bed, here's something that makes me extremely happy =D Dear Ms O'Donnell: We have received your order. I'm getting a computer! Woohoo! I'll say that again, I think - I'm getting a computer! Woohoo! *must sleep before bad things happen*

Ireland didn't get voted in to the final... Ireland were robbed. Bad rest of Europe! That means that tonight I'm going to have to root for Moldova, who I did vote for in the end, and who did get into the final. I really can't believe that we didn't get through. It was such a Eurovision-type of song. *shakes head sadly*
Moving on. Yesterday was my brother's 18th birthday, so once I'd finished work I joined them down the pub having sadly missed his first legal pint. He's not the best of drinkers, bless him, and he struggled through the first and barely touched the second. In a way, it's good that he doesn't really drink. He loves driving, so my parents aren't worried about him drinking and driving. This, in turn, means he can pick me up when I've been drinking. A good situation all around really =)
Did I mention that I went to see The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy the other week? I don't think I did, but believe me, it was absolutely brilliant. I laughed through the whole thing! There are some bits in it that are just so British that it's hysterically funny. I'd love to see it in the cinema again, but I also want to see Kingdom of Heaven and Star Wars III (thanks to Lee getting me half excited about it again!), so I think I'll just wait until it comes out on DVD, buy it immediately and watch it a million times.
I've finally given up on my old computer and am currently trying to pick a new one. At the moment, I'm leaning towards the Dell Dimension 8400, which just looks amazing and has all sorts of memory and whatnot. It's geared for web-use and having bazillions of MP3s on there, so that sounds pretty good. The other one I'm considering is the Dell Dimension 5000, which is pretty powerful but doesn't have the same amount of bells and whistles as the 8400. Plus, it's pretty ugly looking, in my opinion! Dell are doing free double memory at the moment, plus €150 off the 8400 and €100 off the 5000, so it's all good. Price-wise, when I have both computers configured the way I want them (which includes a 15 month virus-protection programme!!), the 5000 comes to €692.56 and the 8400 to €748.97. They're so close in price that I think I'll probably get the 8400 because it's got so much more memory and processing power. It's all so confusing though!

SQUEE! Oh yes, it's Eurovision time again! I'm watching the semi-finals right now (because Ireland didn't go straight through, so we have to be in the semi this year) and at first, I was like 'No! This is bad euro-pop!,' but now I'm all 'Yay! This is good euro-pop!' If such a thing exists =D I am definitely voting for Moldova who have had the best song so far, just because it was so random. I tend to vote for the more off-the-wall acts. Last year I voted for Israel in the final because it was ska punk. Israeli ska punk in the Eurovision... Good times. This was kinda rock, kinda punk, kinda pop and translated into 'Grandma bangs her drum' and featured, you've guessed it, this little old woman beating a huge drum *ROTFLMAO* And people say the Eurovision is no longer relevant. Pfft to those people, I say! Monaco and Israel have also been quite good, and the Netherlands had this singer with a huge Whitney Huston-style voice. Mostly very attractive, scantily clad people so far. Ireland is going to change that, because our duo are brother and sister and very nerdy (and ginger) looking. We don't like to conform ;)
OH MY GOD! Norway have a glam-rock act! I'm not joking! He's wearing a silver catsuit and black lipstick *LOL* Man, I love the Eurovision =D Half of the countries are stuck in some kind of weird timewarp that provides endless amusement for people like me. I don't like how most countries sing in English now though. It's all too plastic pop. Mostly, the countries I vote for sing in their own language. I don't think a foreign language stops people from liking a song *shrug* GO NORWAY! Maybe I should vote for Norway too... Oooooo. Romania have angle-grinders. Romania rock!

I have just enjoyed two days off work (yes, that's right, I worked one day, had a day off, worked one day, had two days off!). Basically, I've been floating around doing bits and pieces. I've almost sorted out all my random bits of crap from the move. I baked a lot. I made a tonne of smoothies. I cooked. I even found time to wash myself =D
My computer's still busted and at this point, I think it's gone for good. My Dad's gonna have one final look at it tomorrow and if he can't fix it then, I'm straight on-line to order a new one, huzzah. I've been using my Dad's computer whenever I can, which isn't a lot. We have a standing disagreement about who gets to use it and when *sigh* But, I achieved something on my list of things to do! Yay! Yay! Can you see what it is? I've helpfully put a line through it. OK, I'll tell you, I've merged my Husk fansite and fanlisting into one, given it a brand-spanking new layout and a bunch of new codes. I quite like the layout, but I really want to know what other people think, so please go check it out at Perpetual Metamoph and tell me what you think about the layout and the title graphic please. Much obliged =)
PS. I fixed my comments. I broke them when I was drunk *blush*

Well, I think we can all agree that I overreacted just a smidgeon the other night, but let's move on (he was still completely in the wrong and is still and complete idiot). I started work at Spar yesterday. I worked there two years ago and it was strange to go back. I have to say, it was completely and utterly boring. Ack. I'm definitely going to try to get something else, because I was bored out of my skull the entire day. I'm off today, so lots of internet-ing for me, since I haven't been on properly in about a week. So far I've updated some stuff at cacophany and given The Wind Knows My Name a new layout. I've also caught up on the majority of my e-mails and joined the Marianne Curley blog crew *pimp* I want to work on the Northstar/Iceman fanlisting that I've adopted from Kim, but there's no graphics programme on my Dad's computer and he's not too keen on me installing stuff. I might do it anyway and then just delete it before he notices! I have, as usual, a bajillion other things to do on-line. Freaks & Geeks, Perpetual Metamorph and Heart of a Poet all really need to be updated. I also want to improve a bunch of my fanlistings. I'm going to take a look at the last to-do list I posted on here and see where I stand with that:
Things To Do (April)
* Go food shopping
* Create [+] Wizards (Terry Pratchett) fanlisting
* Create new layout for Versatile
* Create new codes for Golloptuous
* Finish new layout and codes for Psychic Vampire
* Merge Hayseed with Perpetual Metamorph
* Update {Quidditch} Lovers
* Create new layout for The Wind Knows My Name
* Create a new layout for Ruminations
That's pretty useless, really. To be fair, I've also managed to put up the fanlisting for all Rugrats characters (Toddler Tales) and a site dedicated to my fan-fic and icon-making (Complicity). Plus, I've been writing more fic. OK, new list:
* Create new layout for Versatile
* Create new codes for Golloptuous
* Merge Hayseed with Perpetual Metamorph and add some updates
* Add information to Nunc Id Vides, Nunc Ne Vides
* Create Northstar/Iceman fanlisting
* Create new codes for The Wind Knows My Name
* Update Freaks & Geeks
* Update Heart of a Poet
* Write an 'Otter Pop' fic for dwarfy_drm
* ?Create a new layout for cacophany
* Answer the comments left for the last few entries here!
Mmmmm... Intersetting!

Technically, it's Saturday. But I haven't been to sleep yet, so it's still Friday to me. Do any of you remember Steve? I went out with him for two years, and I've always wondered if I made a mistake breaking up with him. Well I know now. Him and his friend were in Sligo tonight and he asked me if I wanted to meet up. Because of the whole wondering if we could have made it thing, I said yes. Everything went really well and I got on with the friend and whatnot. Then he decides a political conversation is a good idea. The boy is English, ok? And at the moment, he's in Ireland. So, English boy in Ireland. If you were an English boy in Ireland, you'd tread carefully, right? Not Steve. First, he said that the trad band in the pub was boring him and couldn't they play some English folk. No, I'm sorry they can't. Why? Because this is fucking Ireland, not England. Next he told me that if it wasn't for the plantation Ireland wouldn't have an identity. You may not know what the plantation was, but it was a phase of English occupation of Ireland. We had a fucking identity without the fucking English. I've always wondered what Ireland waould have been like if the English hadn't interefered. But I'll never know, because they did. And now people who should know better think that the English fucking invasion did us a favour. Guess what his reaction to all of this was? He called me a racist. Steve, I know you have this address. Fuck you. You are an ignorant bastard and you clearly have no idea about Irish history, even though you've been living in the north for two years. You are an arrogant prick and I feel so justified in dumping you. I've always wondered before, but now I feel good about it. You may think this is racist, but fuck off back to England. This is my country and you have no fucking right to demean it.
To all people who aren't Steve... I'm slightly inebriated at the moment, as I'm sure you guessed, so I will make more sense and answer comments tomorrow. Right now, I'm too pissed off to think straight. How can someone I once loved demean everything I stand for? He called me a nationalist like it was something dirty...

I hate my computer. I also hate the fucker who designed the virus that killed my computer. Latest news is it's refusing to reboot. It keeps designating the CD drives as C: which means that it tries to boot the operation system from C: whilst simultaneously trying to write it to C: Do you see the problem? *smacks it* My brother is at football tonight, so I'm using his and, quite frankly, I might never give it back to him. He has a rocking chair as his computer seat, which is quite freaky. I keep forgetting and leaning back, and then thinking that I'm falling and panicking... I can be so stupid sometimes =)
I have a bazillion things to do on-line and it's starting to stress me out, because I know I'll never get them all done. I spent about 20 hours over the weekend sorting out, answering and implementing all my e-mails. All I have left now is some personal e-mails from friends and I'm really tempted to answer them yet and get on with other things. This despite one of them being dated to December >.<
I love the lyric You must know that I follow you. There's something so appealling in it's stalker-like quality. I also love Snow Patrol generally. They're great. Addictive. Are they playing at Oxegen?? *skips off to find out* No... *sigh* I also love the stalkerish I broke in to your house last night, and left a note at your bedside. Very cute lyrics. Makes me think of Ash for some reason!
Since I'm in a rambling kind of a mood, I'm going to ramble some more. I don't understand why people without websites join fanlistings. I mean, to me, the whole point is the buttons. You put them on your site, they're all pretty and people can see what you like. If you don't have a website, well, what do you do? As far as I know, it's not like people actually contact other fans or anything (which was probably the point in the first place). It confuses me.
Another thing that confuses me is Tony Blair. Why does he not fuck off? And the National Roads Authority. Why are they such bastards? Why do they spend millions of Euro on projects that are almost always in the wrong place, always overdue and which almost always destroy something precious? Just because you excavate something before plonking a great big road over it, doesn't make you a good organisation. It makes you a bad one. We all know you pick the route you want before the EIS is done and nothing anyone else says is going to make you change your minds about it. Sorry to be childish, but fuck you. Oh, and politicians get hair and make-up budgets, apparantly. I'm seriously thinking that the only way I'll ever enjoy reading the newspaper is if I become a corrupt politician or civil servant myself. I'd be good at it too...

I've been playing X-Men: Legends like a lunatic today, hence the icon =) I'm so loving the game, which is a good thing - it was my main reason for buying a PS2... I've unlocked Colossus *hugs him* and have been practising the fastball special ever since! Generally, I beat the baddies with Storm's kick-ass chain lightening effect though as the fastball special requires thought. Everytime I play Gambit I die. Everytime I play Cyclops, I get bored. Everytime Magma talks, I want to smack her. Everytime Emma Frost talks, I giggle. Oh, and how crappy was Havok's appearance? I want to play Havok dagnabit!
Away from gaming, my computer is still not working. I had a quick look on Dell today in case I need to invest in a new machine, but they won't sell them to you without a monitor. This is stupid. I already have a working monitor so why would I want to pay €150 for another one? *grumbles*

*sigh* Why does my computer hate me? Why do people derive joy from creating viruses which fuck other people's computers up? Why do anti-virus programmes not understand that some viruses might affect your internet connection so you won't be able to go on-line to update your definitions? Why? You may have gathered that there is something wrong with my computer... Why do these things always happen on the rare occasions that I have plenty of free time? You can bet your arse that when I'm so busy I barely have time to sleep, my computer works fine. Grrrr. I've finally managed to delete everything from the bloody thing, but now it doesn't want to reinstall the OS, which, quite frankly, makes me mad. It's just sitting in my room taunting me. Bastard piece of crap.
Otherwise, things are sunny. I can't decide whether to apply for archaeological digs or a job in the area. On the one hand you get the nice feeling of saying that you work in the area you're actually qualified to work in, on the other hand, working in Tesco would be convienient. Plus, I really need to get my other knee operated on soon because it's been giving me hell over the past few weeks, so digging would be bad. Why do I have to make these decisions? Why can't I win the lotto? *pout* *realises that buying a ticket would be a significant step towards winning the lotto*
Guess what I've quite randomly become addicted to? Extreme Makeover, which is this US DIY/redecoration show, but, you know, bigger. They actually knock people's houses over and start again 0.o My Mum watches it and she's dragged me in to the obsession. Oh, also, RTE are going to be showing Lost soon, so I'll finally be able to see what all the hype is about. Frankly, the ad makes it look like a bad made-for-TV movie, but I'll reserve my judgement for the moment...
Thank you for the various birthday wishes and layout loveliness! Glad you all like the new layout, I'm quite partial to it myself =D And, Lee, why am I not surprised that you think the other Blade movies should have been about Frost? I can't imagine any reason why you'd want that *L* On the topic of movies - I never actually got around to watching The Chronicles of Riddick, but I did watch Resident Evil: Apocalypse and I really liked it. I should really play some of the games! Since then I've also rented Hero and Old Boy (I've been catching up on my movies since I have nothing better to do!). Hero was beautiful to look at, but I didn't think it was as spectacular as the director and Tarantino made out. I liked it, but I didn't love it. Old Boy was great. So very, very strange and so very unexpected. I'm really glad I've seen it and I suspect it'll take me a while to get it out of my head.
*added later* OMFG. David Trimble just quoted Spiderman... I'm absolutely, positively sure that he did, and yet I don't quite believe it *boggles in a superb fashion*

My birthday has come and gone, mostly in a haze of alcohol =) Celebrations were pretty low-key this year since I hadn't really had any time to organise anything. With the whole quitting-my-job-leaving-galway-moving-home thing, I'd completely forgotten that my birthday was so soon! Basically, my friend Siobhan came up on Friday evening and we went for something to eat and some drinks. On Saturday, my actual birthday, we started off with seaweed baths which was really nice, and then headed into town where we did a mini pub crawl before coming back out to the village to have dinner and drinks with my parents and brother. I was absolutely disgusted when I woke up at 9am this morning - I really could do with a bit more sleep! Present-wise I did OK. I got a couple of cards and vouchers, and my parents got me a camping ticket for Oxegen *dances a celebratory dance* I can't wait to go! My brother ordered me something from the internet but it hasn't arrived yet, so I have no clue what it is. Plus, a couple of friends text me to say that my present was on the way. It's always good to have presents to look forward to =D
So, yeah, I'm having a pretty good day. I got my brother to take me into town earlier and rented Resident Evil: Apocalypse and The Chronicles of Riddick. They'd better be good. I've been wanting to see both of them for a while so I'll be pretty pissed off if they're not that good a lá Matrix 3. On the topic of not-so-fantastic sequels: Blade Trinity. Well, it's not that it was bad, it just wasn't great. You just cannot beat the original Blade. It kicks ass in every which way which the sequels don't really, in my opinion. I did like it, but I yearned for the ass-kicking-ness of the first one. On another fangirly topic - IAN MCKELLAN IS GOING TO BE IN CORONATION STREET tonight! I can't wait to see it, and that is something that I never thought I'd say *L*
I'm going to Oxegen!!!!!!!!!! *squee*
